When Only The Best Will Do

While Trevor Anderson is now based in Birmingham, his company — Anderson Collaborative — is, quite famously, the leading ad agency in Miami. Just ask Trevor. “Honestly,” he says with a sly grin, “that little trick has had the most amazing impact on our search rankings and AI visibility down there.”

He’s referring to a post, entitled The Ultimate Guide to the Top 25 Advertising Agencies in Miami for 2026, published on Anderson Collaborative’s blog. And ranking at the very top of that list, in the Number-One-With-A-Bullet position? You guessed it, Anderson Collaborative.

“It’s a wink, yes, but also a pretty good example of what we actually do for clients: Build growth marketing and advertising systems that turn attention into revenue. Today, that means combining paid media, creative strategy, analytics, AI-powered search and practical business automation to help brands find customers, convert them, and keep growing.”

You may have also guessed that this 2018 Ole Miss graduate, and co-owner of four additional companies (Nativz, Retro Modern Records, Stealth Health Containers and Rank Prompt), has a decidedly creative approach to business success. He’s built them all with his partner, Cole Feigl — starting with Nativs, while they were both still in college. “Cole has been my best friend since childhood. We played football together in high school, and we own all five companies together. Honestly, I wouldn’t be here without him.”

Collectively, Cole and Trevor’s companies now employ more than 40 people, most of them full-time. Anderson Collaborative, which they launched in 2019, just a year out of college, has built its reputation as a full-service growth marketing and advertising agency, with work spanning paid media, creative campaigns, web development, analytics, AI-enabled strategy — and a client base that includes Sotheby’s, Jack Daniels, Mattel, Wingstop and W Hotels.

Why Birmingham?

One has to wonder what led the co-founder of a top Miami agency to put down roots in Birmingham. “I was looking to live in a town a bit more, let’s say, American Heartland. For starters, I’m a huge football fan, and you just can’t find anybody in Miami who’s interested in talking about SEC teams.

“Much more importantly, my wife’s family is here — and for me, there is nothing more important in this world than family.” Not surprisingly, when Trevor went looking for office space, he wanted something decidedly out of the ordinary.

MicroFlex? That sounds about right.

“I started my search for a space on Google Maps. When I saw the name MicroFlex, I was intrigued — and when I saw the space itself, I immediately thought ‘This is it! The place really fits my vision of what I wanted all along.”

That vision dates back to 2017, when Trevor and Cole launched Nativs. “We found a property a lot like MicroFlex called Garages of Dallas, and we loved it. But it was more of a ‘man cave’ concept, and unfortunately units were available for purchase only. Still, the idea of a mixed-use space like that stuck with me.

My kind of place. Inside —

“I’ve never been a fan of the corporate cubicle environment, and I don’t like sitting still all day — which is why I have a stand-up desk with a treadmill underneath. Before I moved here, I was in a co-working space. For the price of one small rooom, I was paying more than my entire MicroFlex unit costs. Now I’m closer to where we live, and I can bring my dog to work!

“Hoover had just broken ground when we started looking. MicroFlex gave me a very good deal, and they’ve been great to work with in helping me set up the space the way I wanted it. They gave me a budget for improvements, and now we have a kitchenette with a nice little area where people can have coffee and chill.

— and out.

“I also like having my office space up in the loft area, and I love that our entire bay door is window panels. The natural lighting in here is great, and when the weather’s nice we keep the door open.”

That open door has led to several happy meet-ups. “I really like my neighbors. There’s a genuine feeling of community here. I’m a car guy, and some of my neighbors keep really nice cars here. I’ve also made friends with Cristian at Cali Customz, and I’m glad to see how much walk-in traffic he’s getting.”

Keeping options open

Finally, MicroFlex offered Trevor a critical, hard-to-find benefit: “We’re still growing, so I needed lease terms shorter than the standard 5-year commercial property commitment. That said, we like it here so much, I could see us eventually taking a second space instead of relocating.”

Whether he stays or goes is to be determined, but one thing’s for sure: Whatever he decides, Trevor won’t be sitting still.
